We made time for major attractions like Il Duomo, Sforza Castle, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but we also veered away from the crowds in search of street art and interesting neighborhoods. This being Italy, we also tried to prioritize meals, sampling everything from pizza to risotto, and cappuccinos to aperitivos. The following travel guide will highlight 20 things to do when you visit Milan, Italy 1) Milan Catherdral (Il Duomo - Duomo di Milano - Domm de Milan) 2) Il Duomo Terrace 3) Italian Breakfast - Cappuccino and sweet Italian pastries 4) Sforza Castle - Castello Sforzesco 5) The Galleria - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II 6) Risotto alla Milanese - Milan style risotto 7) Street Art around Porta Ticinese 8) Colonne di San Lorenzo - Columns of San Lorenzo Roman Ruins 9) Boat tour down the canal (linea traghetti gaggiano milano) 10) Dine along the canal in Milan's Navigli District 11) Aperitivo drinks and buffet - Apéritifs and digestifs 12) Shopping in Milan down Via Torino 13) Visiting Chinatown for some Chinese food 14) Ride a bicycle in Milan like a local 15) Pizza al taglio (pizza al trancio) Italian pizza by the slice 16) Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio containing relics of the 3 Magi 17) Duomo Museum covering the cathedrals history in-depth 18) New City Views with a hop-on-hop-off bus pass 19) Museum of Natural History - Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Milano 20) Night views of Milan nearby Il Duomo http://nomadicsamuel.com/photo-essays/20-things-milan-blogville Our trip to Milan, Lombardy was part of the Blogville project where we stayed in a local apartment and experienced all of the best cultural activities, museums, restaurants, arts and entertainment the city has to offer. This city guide is our best attempt to create a mix of best attractions and off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't necessarily find in a typical Milan tourism brochure. 20 Things to do in Milan Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: Our first stop was Il Duomo, which is the most recognized attraction in the city. The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. So we've sat down at a little cafe and we're going to have our first Italian breakfast with cappuccino and sweet pastries. Something that surprised us about Milan is that there is a castle right in the middle of the city. Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan, and it then underwent several restorations and expansions in the following centuries. Today it houses several of the city's most prized art possessions, including frescoes by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo's very last sculpture. For some upscale designer shopping, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the place to be. So we just found a local little restaurant and we're going to be trying a traditional dish that is very popular in this city and in the Lombardy region. We are going to have Risotto alla Milanese. The Colonne di San Lorenzo are the remains of Roman ruins that date back to the 2nd century. They are believed to have been part of a bath house. Another fun activity to try in Milan is a boat tour of the canals. The city's canals are attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, who in 1482 was called over by the Duke of Milan to help renovate the city’s canal system. Milan's Navigli District is one of the liveliest parts of town especially when the sun goes down for dining al fresco. So we've gone out for our first Italian Aperitivo. Which is kind of like a pre-dinner drinking tradition. Basically, you get yourself a cocktail for about 10 Euros and that gives you access to this massive buffet. And that's all for our visit to Milan. We hope this video will give you some cool ideas of sights and attractions to check out. This is part of our Travel in Italy series showcasing Italian culture, Italian arts, Italian foods & Italian cuisine. History of Gothic Cathedral (full documentary) - DOCS CHANNEL Gothic architecture is a style of style that grew throughout the high and late middle ages period. It developed from Romanesque design and was succeeded by Renaissance style. Originating in 12th-century France and lasting into the 16th century, Gothic style was understood during the period as Opus Francigenum ("French your job") with the term Gothic first showing up during the later component of the Renaissance. Its qualities include the pointed arc, the ribbed vault and also the flying buttress. Gothic style is most familiar as the architecture of several of the excellent basilicas, abbeys as well as churches of Europe. It is also the architecture of several castles, palaces, town halls, guild halls, universities and to a less prominent extent, private dwellings, such as dorms and rooms. It is in the fantastic churches and cathedrals and in a variety of civic structures that the Gothic style was expressed most powerfully, its characteristics lending themselves to attract the emotions, whether springing from faith or from civic pride. A great number of ecclesiastical buildings remain from this period, which also the littlest are commonly structures of architectural distinction while many of the larger churches are considered invaluable your jobs of art and are listed with UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Consequently a research of Gothic design is greatly a research study of basilicas as well as churches. A series of Gothic resurgences began in mid-18th-century England, spread through 19th-century Europe and also proceeded, greatly for clerical as well as university structures, into the 20th century. Milano City Hyperlapse Italy Time Lapse Italia ............. ................................................ TRAILER: http://www.yurysirri.com/portfolios/milanocity-hyperlapse-time-lapse/ ............................................... Video wishes to underline on one hand, through extended exposures, the city’s speed and frenzy and on the other hand, thanks to a more saturated colouring, to point out how the metropolis can still be aesthetically charming and a source of inspiration, creating peculiar atmospheres that can turn into “magical” Italy even the most common and well known places, making them look unique and fascinating. With my own Milan Italy pictures, I aim to show up how the city doesn’t disdain modernity even if laying its bases on a well deep rooted historical, architectural and cultural tradition, projecting itself toward the future with its new quartiers “Porta Nuova” Italy and “Isola”. ................................................................................................... King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy laid the cornerstone of the new station on April 28, 1906, before a blueprint for the station had even been chosen. The last, real, contest for its construction was won in 1912 by architect Ulisse Stacchini, whose design was modeled after Union Station in Washington, DC, and the construction of the new station began. Due to the Italian economic crisis during World War I, construction proceeded very slowly, and the project, rather simple at the beginning, kept changing and became more and more complex and majestic. This happened especially when Benito Mussolini became Prime Minister, and wanted the station to represent the power of the fascist regime. The major changes were the new platform types and the introduction of the great steel canopies by Alberto Fava; 341 m (1,119 ft) long and covering an area of 66,500 square metres. Construction resumed in earnest in 1925 and on July 1, 1931 the station was officially opened in the presence of Foreign Minister Galeazzo Ciano. Its façade is 200 metres wide and its vault is 72 metres high, a record when it was built. It has 24 platforms. Each day about 330,000 passengers use the station, totaling about 120 million per year. The station has no definite architectural style, but is a blend of many different styles, especially Liberty and Art Deco, but not limited to those. It is adorned with numerous sculptures. “The ‘incongruous envelope of stone’ (Attilio Pracchi) of this gigantic and monumental building dominates Piazza Duca d’Aosta.” [2] On September 25, 2006, officials announced a €100 million project, already in progress, to refurbish the station. Of the total cost, €20 million has been allocated to restore "certain areas of high artistic value" while the remaining €80 million will be used for more general improvements to the station to make it more functional with the current railway services. The project includes moving the ticket office and installing new elevators and escalators for increased accessibility.[3] Train services[edit] The station has 24 tracks. Every day about 320,000 passengers pass through the station using about 500 trains, for an annual total of 120 million passengers. The station is served by national and international routes, with both long-distance and regional lines. Daily international destinations include Bern, Lugano, Geneva, Zürich, Paris, Vienna, Barcelona and Munich.[4] The station is also connected to Milan-Malpensa Airport through the Malpensa Express train service.

It's something that I'm asked pretty frequently so I've decided to make a video about how the two medical courses in English came to be, whilst trying to decode all the confusing terms for you. ps, at 1.24 - I meant state run course, not exam.
